Bling Ring - Lyon, Fr
In 2022, Louise Vurpas participated in Bling Ring, an exhibition on contemporary jewelry alongside 23 other jewelers at the Lamartine artistic wasteland in Lyon.
This exhibition will also be brought back to Paris in October 2023 as part of the Parcours Bijoux.
For this event whose theme you will have understood, that of tinsel, Louise chooses to divert the material by working with silver and its double. Two rings made of silver (metal) and silver (banknotes). For the Caillasse ring, the banknotes are considered as a material in their own right, a raw stone to be cut which will become an enormous solitaire.
As for the Porte Feuilles ring, bank notes replace, well arranged in their setting, an alignment of precious stones.
Louise plays here with the different meanings of material and financial preciousness by shaking up their codes and values.
Amulett Gallery - Bern, Ch
For this exhibition, Louise worked on the theme of the family jewel.
She decides to divert paper (a simple and inexpensive material) by giving it a more precious appearance like this river of paper diamonds!
She cuts, glues, sews, sizes, and does tests with her grandfather's old books found in the attic.
With this choice of material, Louise wishes to highlight the notion of transmission: we inherit a family jewel like a beautiful book.
Tactil Gallery - Geneva, Ch
For her diploma thesis, Louise once again seeks a diversion. She is interested in animal materials (in particular that of chicken because it is more ordinary and less expensive) and seeks to ennoble it, to give it a precious and refined aspect. She cuts the bone, tests the tanning of the leather of the skin of the legs...
The meticulousness of the work, the attention to detail and the resumption of classic forms of jewelry, gives this raw material a luxurious side.
It was at this time that the designer became interested in chicken bones, then later, bovine bones, and its ivory appearance with which she liked to adorn her creations.
Studio Cyclorama - Lyon, Fr
Returning to Lyon in 2012, Louise organized an exhibition at the photo studio, the Cyclorama, with the desire to introduce her vision of contemporary jewelry to her hometown.
